ALWAYS take the fill plug off before the drain plug otherwise if that fill plug gets stuck you have no way of adding fluid. Also it'd be wise to do the rear diff at the same time. I did my t-case and trans too. But 100 bucks in fluid beats a couple grand for a rear end or transfer case replacement. The first change should be done at 30k miles, after that, you can go 30k to 50k miles between changes. I personally would stick to every 30k miles.
