Jun 22, 2022 · This is a reply to my post a few months ago about getting admin access to my Adtran 854-6 router, which was used to replace my Zyxel router when Consolidated updated my fiber service to Fidium last August 2022. Although ports 53 (DNS) and 22 (SSH) are open, you cannot access them using PuTTY or a similar program. An ONT (Optical Network Terminal) is analogous to a modem for a fiber ISP. Fidium ONT <-> UDMP-SE [SFP+ @ 10 Gbps]. I moved from the 2.5 Gbps ethernet port on the Dream Machine to the SFP+ 10 Gbps port, and threw an SFP+ RJ45 module in there. This appears to be working. My theory is that the 10 Gbps port on the ONT does not like being negotiated to 2.5 Gbps. It'll work for awhile but eventually starts throwing a fit.

Just to be clear. The fiber optic line runs into my garage and connects to the small, black ONT (Optical Network Terminal) placed there by Fidium/CC. From the ONT, a CAT 5e line runs through my house coming out through the floor in corner of my living room and plugs directly into the Deco unit allowing it to offer Wi-Fi in the house.
