I tried with my phone hotspot first which didnt work for some reason even though it should theoretically also be 2.4. Note that I had to unplug and replug the robot fully in order to get it to work the first time, and then i had to do the same thing again in order to get it to reconnect after switching back to my main router.

It's honestly incredible that a $700 piece of tech released in 2022 isn't configured to automatically reconnect to your wifi after a disconnect. As for your issue, maybe you can plug it into a mechanical timer that briefly shuts the robot off after your wifi reboots. After it turns back on, it should re-establish a connection.
