If so, did the steering column need to be removed for access (as noted in the factory shop manual) or was it able to be replaced by just removing the lower dash trim pieces?
DodgeGuy, I had my driver side blend-air actuator replaced a few years ago, under warranty, at the dealership. At that time the part was $40.75 and the labor was $160.00. Hope you are right, I think there are 2 on the drivers side, hope it is the less costly of the 2 to replace. The last blend door actuator I changed (not in a Challenger) was making motor noise. Opened the case to find plastic teeth missing on one of the gears. Motor was running (making noise) but door drive gear wasn't moving at all. Could be what you are experiencing with yours. Blend door actuator repair. Seems like Dodge had an issue with these actuators breaking an alignment tab which causes the actuator to start making a racket behind the dash. Turns out they finally fixed the issue by adding a metal stud where the break occurs. Here is the screw I used and drilled a 5/32 hole.
