Dodge ram fuel fill problems.
This time it just spewed gas out of the fill when I tried to pump it in. I immediately drove it to the dealership and they acted like they'd never heard of it happening. But when I go online there are tons of forum discussions about this, and even a class action lawsuit.
It has been happening for the 22000 miles I have owned this brand new Durango. But today I have had enough. The 2018 Dodge Durango has 9 NHTSA complaints for the fuel/propulsion system at 13,671 ...I have not had this problem with my D. However, I have a 2013 Ram 3500 and this seems to be a common issue with the capless system. I have to push the nozzle in all the way and turn it 45 degrees to the right and it will fill up, otherwise it auto shuts off. Loosen the two hose clamps and pull off the hoses, then pull out the fuel pipe assembly. I welded a bung to mine for the auxiliary tank fuel feed.Jump out the fuel pump rely and let it pump the fuel into a container. There is a plastic ball in the filler neck to prevent syphoning. Some tanks have a rubber hose between the neck and the fill tube that slides into the fuel tank. I have syphoned the fuel out by disconnecting the rubber hose and accessing it there.back blow out the fuel line from the filter housing back to the FASS and the line from the fass to the tank. remove FCA and Cascade valve, clean and flush with Diesel Kleen and then fresh diesel. any signs of corrosion in FCA or CV, replace. use clean fresh diesel to back flush all.

To add more mystery to the difficult fuel filling problem: The pump clicks-off after 1.2 gallons, no matter how empty the tank, and continues to take fuel in small amounts until the tank is full. It didn't do this for the first 30,000 miles.
