With the gearbox in neutral the plunger in the screw type switch I have is pressed in & the N.O. contacts close, putting the neutral light 'ON'. However, the cam in the gearbox operates the plunger when it's in neutral so extinguishes the neutral light.

The case with the vent stud in that location is pre '56. The plate that looks like 100 on it is actually 10-0 which means October 1950. The ratchet top is later and not original to that box. The kit you need is for a pre'65 4 speed. The kicker cover is aftermarket.
