During this mission it does not matter if they see you, if you are in sneak, if you wait a couple seconds, taking the password immediately turns people around you hostile. Open up console, click on companion, type "getav ca_affinity" (without the quotes) and that will give the current affinity level. Triggers are at 250, 500, 750 and 1000.
