It sat up for several years and the tank rusted. We had the tank rotted and creamed. The bike will run for several weeks and then it floods. We have cleaned the carb several times. We put on an external fuel filter. The petcock has been cleaned and the carb rebuilt. We dont know why it continues to flood.Choking. You should find a knurled ring at the base of the choke knob (the holder I guess is the word) which may be covered by a rubber cover. 2002 kawasaki vulcan 800 classic. ok, I've read alot of threads on this but nothing helps. My bike runs very well after warming up. The bike pops thru the carb and yes it's thru the carb. When I got the bike it leaked gas into the crankcase (all of it the gas). After rebuild it runs like a badass but still pops at low rpms.I have a 2008 Vulcan 500 ltd. As far as preformance wise everything is still stock. It has roughly 1400 miles on it and has been service and well maintained. Not a problem at all, until today. Hey chief... stringer is dead on. The 800's are well known to be cold-blooded... they take a long time to warm up. There is nothing unusual about that, but there are a couple of things you can do about it, the first of which is replace the stock air filter with a K&N, that single change was a huge benefit for me.My bike is a 2001 kawasaki vulcan 800. The problem I have just started having is the cold starts. This appears to be my choke. It doesn't want to idle at warm up speed so I have to sit in the garage while it warms up, but even then it will buck on be a couple of times while it completely gets warm.New to the forum and needing some advice. Measure the resistance across the 3 white wires going to the stator. Value should be 0.11 - 0.17 ohm (1-ohm scale). Start the bike and measure the voltage on across the same white wires and it should be 54V or more (250v scale).Shoud be at least 12.6 v. Start the bike, rev it to 3,000+ rpm and again check the voltage across the battery posts. You should see a minimum of 13.5 v and would like to see 14.0 - 14.5 v but your new battery will need time to fully charge unless you took it home and charged it, which is a good thing to do. Like.
