Dex honestly is the wrong match for melee horizen walker imo if you want to maximize. The subclass bonus action is amazing and that eating every bonus action makes two weapon fighting melee impossible so you are heavily handicapped going dex. I had a lot of fun running a greatsword strength build with heavily armored feat and defensive fight style.

Terrain Mastery: As horizon walkers travel, they gain a mystical connection with the very ground they walk on. At each level, they add a new terrain environment to their repertoire from those given below. Terrain mastery gives a horizon walker a bonus on checks involving a skill useful in that terrain, or some other appropriate benefit.

Horizon Walker's 3rd Core for effectively a permanent Haste ability was a goal to fit into the build. Figured I'd take advantage of some of that tree with a few ranged feats so the build could use a bow decently. You could dump all that and get Blinding Speed instead. A variation of this build I am trying uses 2H fighting.

If you’re looking to build any type of Ranger, the Horizon Walker is worth looking into. If your campaign is going to go outside of the Material Plane, then this class is a must-have. The Horizon Walker is …

The horizon Walker bonus action is only an improvement if you’ve got some concentration spell up that doesn’t improve each attack. Even then, a spear with PAM and dueling style is going to do 1d6 + 5 + 2 (10.5) vs 2d8 (11) from Planar Warrior. Horizon Walker is probably one of the worst rangers to multi-class (probably only better then Beastmaster). Assassin is also one of the worst rogue subtypes and hugely overrated. The only notable benefit is Planar Warrior allowing you to take Sharpshooter first and Crossbow Expert second. For uncommon items, Weapon of Warning is always good, and Broom of Flying is excellent. Reply. Standard_Mall3559. Horizon Walkers are largely unchanged. I would still either play a midranged sharpshooting longbow build that teleports effortlessly out of melee range, or a skirmishing GWM melee Bamfing build. Neither are bad builds, but Tasha’s made the ranger chassis itself feel way better, so Horizon Walker would also be better. A take on horizon walker ranger. Now I don't know why, but I recently came to the conclusion that I really want to try a horizon walker ranger, but I sadly can't find shit about it so far. I had and found a few ideas, so here they are: A STRanger, built around GWM. People say it works, but I am not sure about it, especially how to build it. For Horizon Walker, I'd not multi class before level 11 at the very least: With Tasha's, levels 1-10 for a Ranger are pretty dope, and Horizon Walker's level 11 ability is great. A DEX S&B build would work fine as well. Take the spells that either maximize your tactics -- HWs want mobility, really -- or your character.
