The automaker is working on creating a fuel cell far cheaper to own than current forms of H2 vehicle. Volkswagen is developing a new fuel cell hydrogen car that is intended to be substantially cheaper than the currently available H2 vehicles. They are aiming to roll out a model that will have a range of 2,000 kilometers per full tank.
The Ineos Grenadier Hydrogen FCEV prototype can store 5 kg of hydrogen and travel up to around 200 km (124 miles). For the production version, Ineos Automotive is targeting a 175% higher range – 550 km (342 miles), which is quite ambitious.
