Cub Cadet did offered a power steering kit that was dealer installed for the late 782. It did not use the same parts like the power steering used on the later super garden tractors. I took the switch out and put a test light on it and wasn't getting power to the solenoid when key was turned. The 984 and 986 where Cub Cadet sold tractors not "type code". Yes they had options that the 982 did not have but they were marked 986/984. Many red painted "IH" tractors were sold painted yellow/white with different model numbers. The later 982,s had aluminum rear ends with dual turning brakes.
