I believe the Majestic Colonial would be more upscale than the Iberostar Dominicana. The Iberostar Bavaro would probably be more of an equivalent to the MC - love the IB -going back in two weeks and would certainly be a good choice but have heard good things about the MC as well. The Majestic will be a little cheaper to stay at, but whichever resort you do choose, would definitely recommend you book at swim-out room, especially since it will be your honeymoon. 1. Dreams is all family. Elegance has family and AO sections. At Dreams, depending on the category booked you could be in a building closest to the ocean. At Elegance, only the AOs are next to the ocean. Family buildings are further in. But at either, even from the lobby it's no more than a 5 minute walk to the beach.
about Majestic Colonial - I think you may have read that the MAJESTIC JUNIOR SUITE is an upgraded room as compared to the junior suite. If you are looking for adults only then Breathless or Excellence would be best. We found the food, service and beach at Breathless to far exceed Majestic. If you prefer a calmer beach then Excellence may not appeal to you. Breathless is larger then Excellence but is not crowded as it is well laid out.

Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres will be located north of Cancun, 20 miles / 40kms away from the Cancun International Airport.
