Marlin was sold to Ruger. No new rifles have been produced for several months. Production was supposed to resume late this year. Nobody knows what the available models will be. i am jealous of that very nice rock you have been living under for the past year.Description. I am still getting 1 or 2 stovepipes in every 200 rds, but I still consider the gun to be new, and I have yet to clean it after 500 rds. Overall I consider the 795 to be a very good gun. The older 25N is in the middle of the pack among my 22 LR bolt guns. It averages 1" groups at 50 yards with a 2.5-7 scope, using bulk ammo, e.g., CCI SV, Federal AutoMatch, or Winchester M22. My vote is for the Marlin 795. Very accurate, magazines readily available including the nice 25 rounder from Promag, the barrel is almost a bull barrel, and it is easier to take down and clean than the Savage 64. As for improvements, there are options including the DIP trigger & trigger guards, MCarb Trigger work and Tech-sights. ...

My first .22 was a Marlin 795. I had to send it back to the factory because the dovetail scope mount is cast as part of the receiver. The factory new one I bought from a big box store was canted left about 30 degrees! Marlin sent me a brand new replacement and it had the same problem, just to a lesser extent. The Marlin 795 is a pretty basic rifle and is quite reliable. Sorry Marlin fanatics. The quality of the wood, bluing and accuracy simply defy the moderate cost of this rifle. The Ruger 10/22 comes in the most configurations and has the most aftermarket parts available if the original configuration is not satisfactory. Many people love this gun. I had one and do not. Marlin bolt actions are cheap but accurate.
