The SFAR gasses my face heavy, and I mean heavy, after just 2-5 rounds. The Virtus is noticeably gassy but not terrible. The 14.5” AR from Thoroughbred is awesome, little gas to the face but it is a little more “tuned” with a VLTOR system.
My experience with the Ruger SFAR has been pretty bad, to say the least. The two different times I've taken it to the range I've had way too many FTEs and short strokings, with the second trip having 2 consecutive bolt seizures. For some reason it absolutely refuses to function properly with any 7.62s, even with the gas fully open to setting 3.

I picked up my SFAR 16" about a 6 weeks ago. First range trip I had some new LAX .308, some surplus South African 7.62, some surplus Brazilian 7.62, some brand new Winchester M118LRW, and some wolf military classic .308 Soft Point 168gr. The gun would not reliably feed any of the 7.62 ammo on any gas setting.So far it looks really good for the price. For feral pig hunting 556 is usually fine imho.
