Then Push the slide forward while dry firing it a number of times. This should work. Also do the same procedure with a mag in. Keep trying this and it should release. This is a common issue. While at the range today I thought I had an FTF and went to eject the mag. I wasn’t able to eject the mag, which I thought was odd, but was able to clear the round and let it strip a new round.

May 1, 2017 · Ruger American Pro Compact 9 slide and take down lever stuck. Just pulled brand new gun out of box to disassemble, clean, and lube. Pulled slide to rear and locked in open position. Rotated the take down lever until it stopped. Pulled the slide rearward to drop slide stop and allowed it to move slowly forward. But it has a hammer, which in my opinion is a good thing. But the Security 9 is a very functional pistol. Accuracy is not quite as good as the American Pistol, but it is adequate. I like the trigger. I hate the sights, probably spend the $77 and get a proper set of steel sights from Ruger. The Lite Rack Ruger .380 runs about 10 pounds. This isn’t a difficulty for most shooters. The slide is nicely finished with generous rear cocking serrations and small but useful forward cocking serrations. The sights are excellent by any standard for personal defense. The rear sight is adjustable for windage.
Also make sure the ejector is pushed all the way up in the normal position. If it's not, the trigger may not reset properly. Oil collects dirt and that dirt will eventually gum up the firing pin.
