JKs, especially later models, do run hot for better emissions. I know I've seen 230 just sitting in traffic with zero load. I normally turn the A/C on which forces the Fan to stay on and the temp drops. So I could see 250 with a load, and any liquid is a pretty good load.

I'm noticing my JK, the 3.6 sits dead center and mostly just a tick to the warm side. Took it for the first long distance trip today and during some prolonged hill climbs of PA roads where a low gear / high rpm was needed, the temp gauge would even drift over toward the 4/5 warm point.

Welcome to the world of Jeep emisions, they like to run the engine hot. Try leaving the AC on it will turn the engine fan on Low and keep coolant temps down. The purpose of a thermostat is to let the car get up to operating temperature and then open up to not let it get any hotter. It is the optimal temperature for the car. If you run without a thermostat it would not let the car get up to operating temperature for a long while.Feb 2014. JK running hot. my 2012 JK is running hotter than I think it should be. I took it to the dealer and they said its because the winch and spyder bumper. Then I took it to a local jeep expert ( Arabia's Overkill) and they said the winch would not affect the air circulation because its low and the bumper shouldn't either.

The JK is still over heating. Coolant is Genuine Mopar Coolant, also. It is NOT consuming any coolant at all, it has not gone down since the last flush. There is coolant pressurizing the hoses and in the radiator. The heater works fine.
