Magus really is a class that needs some deciation, since its features are spread out. Cantrips are endless, but don't level up (except you can add sneak attack, don't know whether sneak attack is added both to weapon attack and spell). Spell combat is pretty useless without a decent amount of spells to burn.

The magus does not need to reference his spellbook to prepare a spell in this way. Heavy Armor (Ex): At 13th level, a magus gains proficiency with heavy armor. A magus can cast magus spells while wearing heavy armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. That is the biggest hurdle for this build imo. You won't be a full gunslinger, so won't have your way reload until later levels to help even out your action economy. And Magus in general is already pretty action starved. Starlit is less so than the melee centric ones, but spellstrike being 2 actions makes it tough to fit in reload actions. The spellstrike uses your attack roll to determine the success of the spell. Don’t bother pumping STR too much. The +1-2 extra damage isn’t that big a deal. Champion is a good choice because you can also get the champions reaction retributive strike and ranged reprisal which works really well with ranged weapons.Spell Combat: This is what makes magus want to use one handed weapon (except e.archer).
