The Calamity Mod is an ever-changing project, with more content to come in the future for both the current progression of the Mod and beyond Supreme Calamitas. Mage is stronger damage-wise but has very weak defenses, while Melee is weaker damage-wise but can take more hits. If you're worse at dodging and want to spend less time looking up good builds then go melee, but if you're more experienced and are willing to grind go Mage.
