MHR. Hi everyone! I'm back with template sets for TU5 of Sunbreak, along with the meta changes (spoiler: almost none). This has been by far the smallest TU for gunners. Amatsu's bowguns aren't better than what we already have, and we can only use Amatsu's boots for the QoL of Heaven-Sent instead of Risen CG Valstrax.

Generally, element will do more damage. However, element also tends to mean riskier play, as you almost always want to run dereliction. Raw is safer, but that also means longer hunts. The dog lbg you make with buddy tickets is a fantastic status lbg. Rapid fires all level 1 status shots and has single shot reload for all level 2 status shots. And can shoot sticky 1 and 2 for kos. Has slicing too but not rapid fire. Level 2 status shots are expensive as hell to make tho. Takes a catalyst to craft each bullet.

In comparison you can easily get Pierce Up 3, AB4+, CB2, and plenty of crit with narga LBG (w/o charms BTW). I don't see a way of building Spread effectively without lucky charm rolls. Spread up ...
Guess that depends on what you're using, although the Zinogre LBG, Despot's Wildfire, is probably the more common Normal one to use since it also has Rapid Fire Slicing in addition to Rapid Normal 2. I was looking into light bowguns again for Iceborne. Haven't played it since low rank on mhw's release. I do know rapid elements are very good if matched correctly, so do I always wanna go for these? No. Honestly, the gun seems realy good. 50% affinity due to bloodlust, 3-1-1 slots and medium rampage for anti deco. Frees up a ton of slots and i build a set where i run every critical skill maxed, ammo up 2, ballistix 2, powder mantle 1, evade extender 2 + peak performance 3 /w kushala blessing aswell as attack boost 7 to further bolster its raw.

The problem is that Pierce Up and Rapid Fire Up decos are both Level 3 slots so this build gets a bit hungry on the slots, but it's still possible to slot this into an AB4 WEX3 shell.

Pierce HBG has some use cases. In MP, a fully upgraded C. Kadachi or Safi pierce HBG can fire away at a monster doing consistent damage while being very safe due to distance. Shield ranges from 20-25% and shieldless 25-30%.
