The fact is, I've discovered I can install games via USB using Goldleaf and Goldtree (I've tried with both a recent and an old title). Just not the one I need - which is FFX/X-2. In the end, when I had already given up, I reformatted the SD card to exFAT to see if the problem I had with this specific game had something to do with USB installing.
