You have to weigh time vs reward. If it takes 2-3 times longer to run a Master over a Legend and or you have a higher chance of failure, just run the Legend. You should get a drop around 10-20 runs on average, but it could be as few as 2-3 runs if RNG really likes you.

Yes. In fact, they claim to have 'buffed' the exotic drop rate last season. And while large scale data seems to support that fact, it's still all RNG. It's a bell curve. For almost every Lost Sector, you are better off running Legend because you can complete the Legend version 3-4x in the same amount of time it takes to complete the Master version once, and this ends up gives you more and better chances because the Master drop rate is not 3-4x higher than Legend. It's around a 1/3 chance given that you kill every champion in order to get platinum rewards. If you miss any champs, that drop rate plummets. The drop rate for the master (1330) lost sectors has seemed quite a bit higher for me though. My hunter was on run 23 or 24 when reset hit.
