Due to US government restrictions, ZPAP M70s cannot have a bayonet lug when they are imported into the USA. Zastava's solution to this is to take already-manufactured M70 gas blocks and simply machine off the locking lugs for the bayonet, thus complying with the import restrictions. The reason why Zastava does this is simple; speed and cost.
