The Academy museum itself doesn't have it's own parking lot and LACMA charges $18. It will be easier to get there once the metro station opens up on Wilshire and Fairfax. I went a couple of weeks ago and spent about 4 hours there. I went a few weeks ago, there was lots of shady street parking near the Tar Pits across from park La Brea.
